Hydroxyethyl Cellulose (HEC) is a derivative of cellulose, obtained by treating cellulose with sodium hydroxide and reacting it with ethylene oxide. It is a pH stable, non-ionic polymer that functions as a thickener, stabilizer and gelling agent.
