Kaolin is a hydrated aluminum silicate clay mineral found in various parts of the world. Its name comes from the Chinese word “Gaoling,” meaning high ridge, a mountainous town in China where it was first discovered, which is why it is also known as China clay. This mineral-rich clay has a soft, earthy consistency, comes in various colors, and is abundant in Kaolinite, silica, zinc, and titanium.

Kaolin clay offers numerous benefits for the skin. It is highly absorbent and detoxifying, helping to soak up excess oils and draw out impurities and contaminants from the skin's surface.
