Ethylene Glycol Distearate is a non-irritating, non-sensitizing, non-ionic polymer used as an opacifier and pearlescent agent in bath washes, shampoos, conditioners, and other personal care products.  It is a diester of plant-derived stearic acid and ethylene glycol. Due to its neutral charge, it is broadly compatible with most ingredients and exhibits pH and thermal stability. As an opacifier, it imparts a luxurious white appearance to surfactant-based formulations. Its pearlescent properties add silkiness and shine. EGDS is eco-friendly, being both plant-derived and biodegradable.
