Sodium Cocoyl Glycinate (SCG) is a mild, biodegradable surfactant derived from coconut fatty acids and the amino acid glycine. Unlike regular SCG, which contains only 30% active matter, anhydrous SCG contains 98.9% active matter and just 0.52% salt. It is an anionic surfactant, meaning it carries a negative charge; therefore, care must be taken when selecting co-surfactants and other functional ingredients, such as polymers, to avoid phase separation. This surfactant produces an excellent elastic and creamy foam when used in neutral to alkaline environments.

It is non-irritating and non-sensitizing when used within the recommended amounts, effectively cleansing the skin without stripping moisture. It leaves the skin feeling fresh, luxurious, and silky. This ingredient is hypoallergenic and mild enough for use in under-eye makeup removers and baby products. It also serves as a hair conditioning agent and is widely used in hair cleansing products.  When used as a co-surfactant, it can reduce irritation and enhance foam production. SCG is Eco-friendly; its water solubility and biodegradability prevent environmental accumulation, making it an excellent choice for environmentally conscious formulators.

Applications: shower gels, shampoos, cleansers, bath soaps, and more.
