Cetyl Alcohol is a multifunctional fatty alcohol produced from coconut or palm oil. It functions as an emulsifier, an emollient, a surfactant, and a thickener, as well as a stabilizer in oil-in-water formulations (HLB 15). It improves the texture and consistency of formulations, produces non-jelling emulsions, and boosts the foaming properties of other ingredients. Cetyl Alcohol also has emollient properties: it softens rough, dry skin and protects the skin against moisture loss.
