DMI is a safe, high-purity solvent made from the methylation of isosorbide, which is derived from sorbitol, a plant alcohol sugar.  DMI is part of a class of  ingredients called absorption enhancers.
It is widely used in skincare formulations due to its ability to enhance the effectiveness of active ingredients and its solubilizing properties.  DMI enhances the absorption and performance of ingredients in formulations.  Additionally, DMI acts as a non-ionic and viscosity-controlling agent, improving the shelf life and stability of formulations.
