Glyceryl Stearate SE is a multifunctional fatty alcohol derived from plant-based Glycerin and Stearic Acid. It acts as an anionic (negatively charged) water-in-oil emulsifier with an HLB (hydrophilic-lipophilic balance) ranging from 5 to 8. Glyceryl Stearate possesses degreasing properties, which help prevent oil-heavy formulations from feeling greasy. When combined with glycerin, it can add a pearlescent effect to shower gels and shampoos. Additionally, it can serve as a thickener in oil-in-water formulations, a stabilizer, and an anionic opacifier.
