Laureth-23 is an ethoxylated (ethylene oxide added) form of lauryl alcohol that appears as a waxy solid with a distinct odor. It serves as an oil-in-water emulsifier, surfactant, and solubilizer. In its role as an emulsifier, Laureth-23 helps create stable products suitable for lotions, creams, and antiperspirants. As a surfactant, it possesses excellent cleansing properties and is gentle enough for use in eye products. When included in shaving cream, it generates stable foam. Additionally, Laureth-23 is derived from plants and is biodegradable.
